Deniz Yusuf – Director

Deniz started working with her father Ahmet Yusuf in 1993, after graduating from Liverpool University with a degree in Media Studies. Initially she spent time in the workroom learning about the different quality of cloths and was taught how to do alterations. It wasn’t long before Deniz decided to concentrate on the ready- to-wear side of the business.

Deniz’s position is a pivotal role in the forward planning of buying menswear. She has a keen eye for fashions and trends and attends local trade fairs. She keeps up with trade magazines as well as fashion media.

She enjoys meeting people and helping them put together outfits – many customers have become good friends. Deniz expertly combines her enthusiasm for her job with the demands of two young children.

Mark Purcell - Master Tailor

Mark started his career with a four year engineering apprenticeship in 1985 at lock making firm, Josiah Parkes & Sons Ltd, in Willenhall, Walsall.

Mark flirted briefly with a career as a roadie for various Birmingham bands and then, ultimately, started on his path towards tailoring by starting an evening course in shirtmaking and dressmaking. Mark found that his craft skills combined well with his interests in music.

As it became known within Mark's social scene that he was making clothes, a friend introduced him to Birmingham designer Patty Bell. Patty had just left Khan & Bell, designers to the New Romantic scene including Duran Duran. Mark worked for Patty on and off for six years. This involved working for bands and for her stall at London’s Electric Ballroom. Mark also attained a distinction on a three year City & Guilds Tailoring and Cutting course.

In 1996 Mark made a follow-up call to Mr A Yusuf which led to an invitation and so off he went with a thimble in his pocket. After six months, Mark was offered full time employment training alongside Ahmet and Mario Notarnicola.

Some 14 years later, Mark cuts, fits and makes up the suits along side Ahmet. His attention to detail and a drive to continually improve ensures Mark gives each and every suit the same amount of dedication and commitment.
